It should be stated somewhere that most settings can be made without the additional mk3 usb dongle and victrons software for one thing. I was also very disappointed about how hard it was to get the software setup and then to be hit with the fact that the VE CONNECT software is locked until you get a password from victron after training. I eventually found the drivers i needed and the VE CONFIGURE software that allowed me to finally set the charge curve for LIFEp04 batteries, and set search mode without needing victrons approval. To battle borns credit they will set it up for you, but that is besides the point.

I am also severely disappointed at the search mode function and that it can only be set to a minimum of 14 watts, way higher than my 16 year old xantrex that could be set as low as 5 watts and didn’t require any additional tools. search mode is also slow on this unit causing a delay between turning on a light and having it kick on. Idle consumption in search mode is also quite high compared to my old xantrex, but does seem to be about on par with other pure sign inverters on the market today if not a little on the high side.

now that being said, i do like how quite the inverter is, and the feature set of the inverter, i just wish that victron would add the ability to set LIFEP04 settings without having to use the additional MK3 usb dongle and make their software more user friendly for advanced users. The three star rating is entirely because of those two things alone
